Christmas at the Neeld

The magic and sparkle of Christmas comes to the Neeld Community and Arts Centre in Chippenham which has unveiled its first festive season programme.

The season highlight is the iconic festive Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol which has been adapted for the stage by award-winning writer Laura Turner.  The Chapterhouse Theatre Company production comes to Chippenham for the first time with five performances on December 3, 4, 17 and 18.

A Christmas Carol has long been a traditional part of Christmas. Set on Christmas Eve, the most magical night of the year, it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge. The miser is whisked away on a terrifying journey through the past and into the future by three fearsome ghosts determined to make him realise the true meaning of Christmas.

Dickens’ classic ghost story is brought alive in this most traditional of festive productions, complete with period costume, song, dance and a magnificent original musical score. Book your seat to witness Scrooge’s frozen heart begin to melt as he finally embraces the Christmas spirit.

The Neeld’s festive season starts with the return to Chippenham of the highly acclaimed Vienna Festival Ballet with its production of the magical Nutcracker on November 15.

The enchanting tale of The Nutcracker follows Clara and her nutcracker doll, which magically transforms into a princely soldier. Their adventures see the Prince and Clara combat the Mouse King and join the Sugar Plum Fairy on a wonderful trip to a Kingdom made entirely of sweets.

A season special for younger audiences is Krazy Kat Theatre’s interactive production Rapunzel and her Witch on December 12. The family friendly relaxed performance is aimed at children aged from three to seven and brings music, puppet figures and singing with fully integrated sign language.

If you’re looking for a Christmas production in Chippenham this year, these productions are full of festive flavour and we have something for all the family.

So, get ready to embrace the Christmas magic sparkle!
